A stunning 19th century coach house and former stables extending to over 5,400 sq. ft. (501 sq. m.) of living space. The house occupies just under 0.5 acre and although situated in the centre of Dartnell Park the property is secluded and away from the road sitting behind automated gates. Features include two large master bedroom suites, an annex, gym/leisure area, swimming pool, two kitchens an orangery and under cover parking for three vehicles. The original part of the house, which is the front section, is believed to date from 1880; a hay winch and stable door fittings can be seen in the orangery. The living space is spread over two floors giving a lateral feel with ground floor areas flowing into one-another and thus providing flexibility as a generously sized family home that is also perfect for entertaining and for recreation. Central to the layout is the beautiful orangery which draws everything together. On its own, the floor area here extends to around 500 sq. ft. (46.45 sq.m.) and includes self-cleaning heat reflective double-glazing, under floor heating and quartzite sandstone flooring. Four x 100 watt speakers have been installed and wired back for future connection to an amplifier and iPad. Ledged and braced doors give a traditional atmosphere with leaded-light windows and copious amounts of oak flooring adding to the effect.
Outside
Electronically operated gates give access to an extensive gravelled driveway, landscaped in 2009, with space for several vehicles; this leads to a twin car barn as well as car parking that is integrated into the house. Neat lawns around the drive are divided by a path winding to the porch, and to the side and rear gardens where shaped lawns and architectural planting provide a pretty and private setting for the swimming pool. Privacy to the rear is afforded by mature trees and shrubs, and the extensive Indian Sandstone deck, wider than the house and surrounding the pool, is a practical and visually attractive finishing touch.
Location
West Byfleet is a central part of Surrey's commuter belt, however the roads in the immediate area are leafy and quiet, perfect for young families and with a wide selection of good schools locally, both in the public and private sector.
Although officially a village, West Byfleet has the atmosphere of a small and vibrant town, with good restaurants and a diverse range of local shops. A Waitrose is in the village and Marks and Spencer's superstore can be found at the nearby Brooklands retail park.
It is however, West Byfleet's railway station (under a mile away), that makes this area so attractive to those working in London; regular services into Waterloo range from around 30 minutes. And in the opposite direction, Woking's station is a good destination because of its excellent theatre where many shows appear before playing in London. For those travelling further afield, London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports are around 17 miles and 30 miles respectively and there is good access to the M25, M3 etc. via the A3 about 3.5 miles away.
